At The House of Feathers, we’re honored to provide a forever home for parrots that have challenging personalities, but we also have many incredible birds just waiting for their new forever friend! From the moment they come through our door, every parrot at The House of Feathers is part of our family, forever. And we'd rather take care of them forever than allow them to go into a questionable situation. Consequently, our adoption criteria are somewhat rigorous. We're not trying to make it difficult, we're taking care of someone we love, and we hope you'll do the same. Importantly, any parrot adopted through us is welcome to come back to us at any time, for any reason, with a refund of any fee paid.
Adoption Process
The process begins with a query from you, and an appointment to visit to the rescue, either to meet a specific bird, or to just see who is available. In most cases, you would interact with the bird(s) of interest to see how the chemistry goes. But you won't be taking a bird home on the first visit; at least one additional on-site visit will be required. Next, we pay a visit to your home, where we will evaluate suitability of the environment for your birds of interest. If all goes well, the bird would then be made available to you initially as a foster parent for 3 months, with periodic home checks by us. At the end of that time, your new friend is yours for life!
Adoption Fee
There is an adoption fee. This fee is not intended to compensate us the costs of making a parrot adoptable. Instead, it's a token of your commitment to your chosen bird, showing that you are are serious about making an investment in its welfare. Without this, we have no way of being sure. Our fee is a small fraction of what you would pay at retail, and in the process, you have the satisfaction of giving a home to an animal that needs one. Are you ready?
