October Newsletter | A Month of Resilience, New Life & Progress

Dear Friends of The House of Feathers,

October has brought plenty of rain, a few challenges, two incredibly tiny new arrivals, and so many reasons to be grateful for the work we do together!

Life at a parrot sanctuary is never dull. Between caring for our feathered residents, keeping their environment safe, providing nutritious meals, and celebrating every step forward, there is always something happening here. This month, we have some special updates to share with all of you who care so much about our flock.

🌧️ Weathering the Rain

If you've been following the weather lately, you know we have had plenty of rain! All that rainfall has brought some challenges, particularly with flooding around our outdoor aviaries.Thankfully, we have the flooding under control and are continuing to keep a close eye on conditions to ensure our feathered residents remain safe and comfortable.Sanctuary life means being ready to adapt, problem-solve, and do whatever is needed to care for our birds. Rain or shine, their safety and well-being remain our top priority!

🐣 Two Tiny New Beginnings!

We have some very special news to share: two hatchlings have been born at The House of Feathers!

And when we say tiny, we mean TINY!

These little babies need an incredible amount of care, and our founder has taken on the demanding task of feeding them every hour to give them the best possible chance of survival.

It's a round-the-clock labor of love that requires dedication, patience, and an enormous amount of heart. Caring for such fragile little lives is no small undertaking, and we are hoping with all our hearts that these babies continue to grow stronger.

🥕 Good Food, Happy Birds!

A healthy bird needs more than a full food bowl. Nutrition is an important part of helping our residents thrive.

At least three days a week, our birds are receiving fresh fruits and vegetables alongside their regular diets. These fresh offerings add variety, provide important nutrients, and give our feathered friends something different to enjoy.

Good care happens in the everyday moments, and we're committed to giving our flock the nourishment and attention they deserve.

💚 Little Steps, BIG Progress: Zoro & Mango

One of the most rewarding parts of rescue is watching a bird learn that people can be trusted.

We are excited to share that Zoro and Mango continue to make wonderful progress!

Both birds are now allowing multiple people to pet them. For birds who may have needed time to feel comfortable and secure, this is a meaningful step forward.

And Zoro has taken things a little further! He is now allowing some people to hold him.

These may seem like small moments to someone looking from the outside, but here at The House of Feathers, we know just how significant they can be. Trust cannot be rushed. It takes patience, consistency, respect, and the willingness to let each bird move at their own pace.

We are so proud of Zoro and Mango and look forward to seeing what the next chapter brings for these two special birds.

🧡 Behind Every Happy Squawk

Running a parrot sanctuary is a daily commitment that goes far beyond what most people see. It means preparing meals, cleaning and maintaining aviaries, monitoring the birds, providing enrichment, responding to unexpected challenges, and giving individual attention to birds with different needs.

It also means sleepless nights and hourly feedings when tiny hatchlings need us most.

From managing the recent heavy rains to nurturing our newest arrivals and celebrating the growing trust of Zoro and Mango, every day reminds us why this work matters.

We couldn't do it without the people who believe in our mission and care about the lives of these remarkable birds.

🦜 How You Can Help Our Flock

If you'd like to support the work happening at The House of Feathers, there are many ways to make a difference.

  • Donate:     Contributions help us provide food, supplies, habitat maintenance, and the  care our birds need.
  • Spread  the word: Share our stories and help more people learn about the needs of rescued parrots.
  • Follow  our journey: Stay connected for updates on our birds, their progress,      and life at the sanctuary.

Every act of kindness, no matter the size, helps us continue this important work.

💌 Thank You for Being Part of Our Flock

As we move through October, we are reminded that some of the most meaningful things happen quietly: a bird accepting a gentle touch, a tiny hatchling receiving another feeding, a safe aviary after a heavy rain, or a fresh meal enjoyed by a happy flock.

These moments are why we do what we do.

Thank you for standing with The House of Feathers, for caring about our birds, and for helping us give them the best lives possible. We are grateful to have you on this journey with us.

With love and gratitude,

The House of Feathers
Every bird matters. Every life is worth the effort. Every feather has a story. 💚
